The Issue Of Capital Punishment Essay - 1411 Words
Issues with Capital Punishment Capital punishment, also known as death penalty is a legal procedure in which a state executes a person for crimes he/she has committed. This punishment has been implemented by many states and used for barbaric crimes, especially murder. It is also used on crimes against the state such as treason, crimes against humanity and violent crimes. There are mixed reactions on capital punishment depending on oneââ¬â¢s faith. In my view, I am not in favor of capital punishment as I strongly believe that death penalty is unacceptable and an inhumane practice for it denies oneââ¬â¢s right to live. Death penalty does not deter crime, it is an act of punishment, it costs more than life imprisonment, and worst of all, risks executions of innocent people. In countries where the death penalty remains, those victims die at the hands of that state but more importantly they are left to die by their own home states (Conall 1). Death penalty is an unacceptable, immoral and inhuman act that should not be supported. Since death is regarded as an evil and it is always wrong to impose anything evil on anyone, capital punishment should be considered wrong. It violates an individualââ¬â¢s right to life by denying him/her the right to live. In addition, it disrespects and lowers value of human life. It is a cruel punishment and people suffer both physically and emotionally before their execution. The actual mode of execution may be relatively humane, but the waiting period, andShow MoreRelatedThe Issue Of Capital Punishment1383 Words à |à 6 PagesPaper 30 Mar. 2015 Capital Punishment Every year as a result of the United States judicial system, a multitude of American citizens are put to death for murder, rape, and other such heinous crimes. Gun Issue And Gun Control - 1401 Words
Ever since I declared my political science major at The Ohio State University, Gun Politics has been a course I have aspired to take. While many enroll in such a course looking for an escape from the ââ¬Å"collegiate liberal echo chamberâ⬠or as an outlet for their conservative agendas, I saw the class as an ââ¬Å"entrance to the dark side.â⬠My views on guns prior to the class were, I would call, polarized yet uninformed. In most of my discussions, I would cite the Australian 1996 National Firearms Agreement as precedent for how American politicians should approach the gun issue and gun control. Oftentimes, I feel as though my opinion on guns is most polarized in times of crisis, be it after the Aurora Massacre, Newtown Shooting, or Chardon Shooting which hit close to home. I feel compelled to act and defend those who could not defend themselves. This thought rings especially true when the media accentuates the victims with ââ¬Å"the poor innocent childrenâ⬠narrative contrasted by ââ¬Å"the nasty cold-blooded assassin.â⬠While I sympathize with all who have undergone tragedy, especially the families of such horrible massacres, the gun lobby and its supporters raise a valid argument when they argue that ââ¬Å"guns donââ¬â¢t kill people; people kill people.â⬠Undoubtedly, gun opponents could counter by noting that a culture devoid of guns would remove the weapon from killersââ¬â¢ hands ââ¬â and this point is highlighted with the example of the stabbing in China that occurred on the same day as the Newtown tragedy, where the victims were only injured, not killed. However, the point to be taken from this debate is t hat in order to have a fair debate, emotion and feelings must be removed. This means that business has borrowed a lot of money so they have more debt. To improve in 2014 they need to pay back loans or not borrow so much so their business isnââ¬â¢t financed mostly on debt. Shareholderââ¬â¢s ratio Shareholder equity ratio = total shareholder equity / total assets The higher the shares the better, this means that if the share price is higher, more investors will invest in the company.

He would protect that person from the bad things thrown at the m in life. Although both lyrics are only a small line, they generate a deeper meaning than what is actual y portrayed, which makes this song so great. Imagery is a very creative device that is used in the song. Its raining in your mind, so push them clouds aside is one of the lines that display it. In addition to imagery, this line I s also a form of Drug 2 recertification, because the mind does not actually rain. This line meaner that the per son Mantissas is referring to is thinking in a negative way, or only of bad things in their life, and what t be doing is forgetting about the negative and focusing on the positive good things the eye should be happy about. Reach for the sky, keep your eye on the prize, is both a hyperbole and enders tenement. This line anticipates the type of goal the artist has for himself, and advice he has to others . Keep looking forward or keep your mind set on your goal, because there is never a limit in achieving In Sunshine, there is a variety of figurative language that is used. Found the ground beneath my feet gone, is a form of alliteration and metaphor. The artist is telling the audience e that he lost the steady foundation in his life which kept him sane and practical. One of the other type s of metaphors/ similes are Time to grow and be a man, want to fly high like Peter Pan. The artist is s eying that it is time to take responsibility for yourself and learn new things in life because t hey are part of what is needed to become successful and happy. These types of figurative language are us d in the song to communicate interest and creativity, which is another reason why Sunshine is effect vive. Without a tone, songs and poems would not have emotion. The tone of Sunshine is confident and faithful, as if no one could give up on anything when listening to this song. The w hole chorus where it says, Reach for the sky, keep your eye on the prize, forever in my mind be my golden sunshine. Its raining in your mind, so push them clouds aside, forever by my side, youre my golden n sunshine shows how positive the artist is in the song.
